You may have noticed I've been a little MIA since fall started, but there's a good reason - we moved to a new apartment! Our new place is great, but moving is always a huge undertaking, and I have been spending most of my time decorating and getting us settled. The good news is, a new home is a great excuse to have people over, which we are finally doing this weekend. Our bar is well stocked in anticipation of our friends and family joining us (not to mention the wine fridge - a favorite feature of our new place!). I put together a special cocktail for the occasion, with warming flavors of ginger and rosemary for the cooler fall weather, plus a bit of sparkle to lighten it up.
- 2 oz gin
- 1 tbsp rosemary ginger syrup (see recipe below)
- 2 oz sparkling wine
- 1.5 oz pear hard cider
- Squeeze of lemon
- Rosemary sprig for garnish
In a glass, stir together gin, syrup, and lemon. Top with sparkling wine and cider. Garnish with a sprig of rosemary. Serves 1.
Rosemary Ginger Syrup
- 1 large sprig rosemary
- 1/2 cup peeled, sliced, ginger
- 2 cups water
- 2 cups sugar
Bring to a boil. Simmer for 5 minutes, stirring occasionally. Remove from heat and let sit with rosemary and ginger for 1 hour. Strain, and store in an airtight bottle or container. Makes enough for multiple cocktails.
