One night after a movie date, Greg and I wandered in to a local Japanese place (sadly now closed) where we took a seat at the bar and ordered grilled skewers, shishito peppers, and bacon wrapped mochi (see why I am sad it closed - yum!). They featured Japanese whisky on the menu, and I ordered a flight in lieu of the usual Sapporo draft. They were honestly all pretty great, but one stood out - Nikka Coffey Japanese Grain Whisky. (Fun fact! Japanese whisky is spelled with no e, in case you have been questioning my spelling!). We loved it so much, I tracked down a bottle for home. In our house, we usually have a few varieties of whisky. There is always at least one that I like to call "Tuesday Night Whisk(e)y" because it is something you pour yourself a glass of when you come home from work after a generally uneventful Tuesday. However, our bottle of Nikka is a special treat, saved for date nights, impressing friends, or just a special Saturday. If you'd like to try some yourself, it's available to order online from our favorite spot, Astor Wines. Cheers to Saturday night!
