In my teenage years, I was the girl who tried every ill-advised DIY beauty tip I read about in a magazine, usually to lackluster results. Fresh lemon juice never lighted my dark locks, and the egg-white-oatmeal mask was best left to breakfast (and looked ridiculous on my face!). Though I have mostly graduated to a store-bought skin care routine, one of those tips actually worked and has stuck with me - a very simple olive oil and sugar pedicure scrub. It makes your feet super soft, and takes less than a minute to throw together. If you want to get fancy you could add a few drops of essential oil or rose water, but I usually stick to the basics.
Combine 2 parts sugar to 1 part olive oil in a small bowl. Soak your feet in soapy water for a few minutes, then scrub each foot with the mixture. If you are going to paint your toes after, swipe them with a little nail polish remover to make sure you remove any traces of oil. Simple & sweet!
